Above: In November of 1965, Wilmer Hampton, left, manager of the Mission Ridge Ski Area, and Magnus Bakke, veteran construction supervisor, look over work being done on the upper slopes of the ridge. Crews spent the fall clearing and burning the area for ski runs and building access roads. Chairlifts were installed and a lodge constructed the following year. Hampton died in early 1966 and the lodge was named in his honor.
