Golf Course Superintendent of Leavenworth Golf Club Ivan Gibbs recently attended the annual conference of the Northwest Turfgrass Association (NTA) in Walla Walla where he was elected by members to serve on the Board of the NTA. This is a 3-year term where he will be serving on the Education Committee.
Executive Director of the YWCA NCW, Jenny Pratt, recently attended the National Association of YWCA Executive Directors (NAYE) conference and was nominated to the NAYE Board of Directors.

Senior planner Charity Duffy of SCJ Alliance’s Wenatchee office was honored with the Entrepreneurial Award.
Carolina Torres, horticulturist and Washington State University alumna, has been named the university’s first Endowed Chair in Tree Fruit Postharvest Systems. Torres will help tree fruit growers and packers bring produce to consumers more profitably and sustainably.

New jobs, new faces
YWCA NCW has recently announced the hiring of three new staff:
Alyssa Martinez-Garcia is the new deputy director. Her duties will include program development, supervisory duties, and acting in the absence of Executive Director Jenny Pratt.
Dusty Mahoney has been announced as the new landlord liasion and will be working with the city of Wenatchee to offer Rent Smart, a monthly workshop offered to local tenants in which they learn landlord-tenant law, how to be a good tenant, and rights as a renters, in addition to creating relationships and partnerships between local landlords and property management companies.
Kathy Blauman is the new housing specialist with experience in homeless housing programs from Haven of Hope and a degree from Central Washington University.
