Chelan Fire and Rescue received second place in the Washington State Fire Commissioners Association “Management Excellence Award Program” for Category B Class fire departments at a conference in Spokane last month. The award program provides a means of sharing information, ideas and a variety of activities throughout the state and to give recognition to those in the fire service that have demonstrated progressive achievement.

The Wenatchee Kennel Club received the American Kennel Club Public Education Award, presented by AKC Director of Education Leslie Fetzer. The award was given Oct. 20 during the annual Wenatchee Kennel Club dog show in Cashmere.

Suzanne Hartman, communications manager for Chelan County PUD, was recently named recipient of the Jay Rockey Lifetime Achievement Award and an inductee into the Public Relations Society of America College of Fellows.

U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Washington, was awarded the National Retail Federation’s Hero of Main Street on Oct. 12 in recognition of his support of legislation critical to the retail industry.

Lake Chelan HomeWatch has earned Accredited Member status from the National Home Watch Association for the sixth year.

North Cascades Bank was awarded the 2018 Financial Capability Innovation Award by EverFi Inc. Bank President Charlie Guildner accepted the award, which recognizes North Cascades Bank’s efforts to improve financial knowledge through unique digital learning initiatives.

 

New jobs, new faces

Accountant Nicholas McCarthy has joined the staff at Homchick, Smith & Associates, PLLC.

Camille Dahlstrom has recently joined GWATA as administrative assistant. She will provide support for the organization’s members, partners and the many community events hosted by the nonprofit each year.

Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council recently hired three new members:

Jessica Lara, AmeriCorps/RSVP Program director; Chyvonna Torres, housing specialist; Molly Draben, AmeriCorps VISTA member.

The Wenatchee Racquet & Athletic Club has announced the addition of staff and instructors to its fitness team: Ellie Miller has been named assistant club manager; licensed massage therapist and certified running coach Anja Petterson has joined the massage therapy team; Alanna Petterson and Marion Lodato have both joined as yoga instructors; Adria Smart will teach water workouts; and Izzy Griffith will lead preschool play. 

CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) has announced the addition of Maria L. Rosa and Paden Osterlund as new associates. Rosa graduated from Central Washington University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration while also completing her internship with CLA. She previously worked in the company’s Moses Lake office. Osterlund previously worked at Weinstein Beverages in Wenatchee while pursuing his undergraduate degree in accounting. He held a graduate fellowship position at Eastern Washington University while completing his master’s degree in business administration.

Justin Erickson is Chelan County PUD’s new district services managing director. The Tacoma-area native is a Central Washington University alumnus for both his undergraduate degree and his master’s degree in resource management.

Victoria Velazquez has obtained her property and casualty license and joined Allstate Insurance.

North Central Educational Service District has announced the addition of six new employees to the team:

Lisa Monahan has been hired as a STEM coordinator. She taught a variety of courses in the Methow Valley over the past 12 years, including secondary science, math, engineering and health, and coordinated internships. 

Melissa Trammell is the newest behavior specialist. She graduated earlier this year with a graduate certificate in PBS with a focus in applied behavior analysis.

Heidi Krumland has joined the staff as a school psychologist intern. Previously, she was an elementary school teacher and has taught in Alaska, Belgium and several districts in Washington.

Heather Kelly has also been hired as a school psychologist intern. Prior to graduate school, she worked for the Wenatchee Police Department, the state Department of Corrections and the state Division of Child Support.

Heather Stringer is the new electrical safety and energy education specialist. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University and brings almost a decade of experience teaching elementary school.

Erika Cleverly has joined the staff as a speech language pathologist. She worked for the Quincy School District for 10 years and the Achieve Center for three years.

 

Staying on top

Shawna Annis, RN, BSN, attended the GAIN 2018 Art of Innovation Nestle conference in Seattle from Oct. 12-14. The educational focus was on Dysport and dermal fillers. Annis is the owner of Professional Skin Solutions Medical Spa in Wenatchee.

Financial adviser Douglas Sklar and branch office administrators Gay Heindselman and Krysta Hulse with the Edward Jones firm in Omak recently attended an invitation-only training opportunity at the firm’s headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.

New York Life agent Gordon D. Schuster, MA, LUTCF, RICP, has announced a new office location, 1301 Walla Walla Ave., Suite A, Wenatchee.

Augustedge announced that Lyndsey Chapman passed her Property and Casualty Insurance exam.
